What is the In-App Taxi Meter?
As of GoCatch Driver Version 7.2.0, Taxi fares are now calculated and displayed in-app to improve payment speed and convenience, so drivers can turn the taxi meter off! *
*where permitted by regulations
How do I use the In-App Taxi Meter?
- Simply tap Collected when the passenger enters your vehicle.
- Once you reach the destination tap Delivered
- Tap Confirm on the app to see the total amount to complete the trip.
During a trip the payment method will show on your screen:
IN-APP Payment GoCatch to process payment
EFTPOS/CASH payment via driver terminal
Does it automatically include tolls?
No, you will see a toll prompt pop up on your screen as you pass by each one along your trip. Before tapping 'Delivered' you must confirm each toll you have passed through to receive the correct amount. Be sure to only touch your screen when it is safe to do so. We recommend confirming at the end of the trip when you have pulled over, and are at a complete stop with the brakes engaged.
What about the State Levy? (NSW and SA ONLY)
With introducing the new In-App Taxi Meter, this also means you will avoid being double charged for the $1.10 NSW levy by your network operator.
The SA levy will continue to be applied in its normal fashion.
GoCatch is accredited by the NSW Point to Point Commission and is able to calculate taxi fares in-app, collect the NSW State Levy and provide passengers with taxi fare estimates.
GoCatch uses GPS data from Google Maps whereas the traditional taxi meter uses the drive shaft of a car to calculate the price. The Google Maps GPS data will be consistent every time for every vehicle. Passengers get price certainty when they ride with you too.
Ensure you set your meter to “Not for Hire”.
